Aunt Lou was a wonderful woman who was her mother's "spinster" sister.
I believe she was a school teacher. I have wonderful memories of her. When I would visit on
summer vacation she would allow me to go through all of her jewelry and select something to
bring back home with me. She lived with mom's parents up until the time of her death.

Mom very much adored her older brother Jack. Growing up he was very protective of
her and they were very close. Mom did not get to see her family much after she and my father
moved down to Detroit in 1946. When I was younger we would go up north every summer on vacation
and she would get to visit them then. As the years passed she would see them less and less and
I know that she missed them dearly.

As mom's
Alzeheimer's progressed, she constantly called me by her sister's name and she would be
"visited" by her often. Both of her siblings died before she died. Not too long after mom died
I found a note that she had written to her deceased sister. I was able to read it quite well so
I assume she had written it before Alzheimer's took ahold of her. The note told her sister how
very much she missed her and that their family would soon be united again since mom would soon
be joining them. She lived on many more years after she wrote that
note.
