Just because I no longer speak
doesn't mean my heart can't say

with each and every passing day.

I need you more than ever now
to be here right by my side
To love me and to protect me
and to be my faithful guide.

I wake up each and every day
with terror inside my heart
Afraid that this "monster" called Alzheimer's
will eventually tear us apart.

Just because my mind is dying
more and more with each and every day
Doesn't mean I don't still struggle
to be able to communicate in some small way.

Just because this body of mine
has become a prison for me
Doesn't mean I don't still want to live
for how I long to be able to be set free!

Please don't forget me
and always remember who I was
Hold me close forever inside of you
and never stop loving me
